This tiny little sushi bar, like the ones you’d find in Tokyo, serves just that – sushi, a handful of apps that include the splendid, delicate crab shu mai, seaweed salad, a daily ceviche, and that’s about it. The place contains a single bar, big enough for the Japanese owner, his wife, and daughter to barely skirt around, and a few outside tables – but after 20 years in the restaurant business in Manhattan, this family has figured out how to take it easy. That ease extends to the excellent rolls and fresh sushi, all of which have a unique lightness and delicacy and subtle flavors that distinguish them from their competition – the eel is particularly delicious. A fabulous place to drop in for a quickie and a glass of beer and wine (if you can find a place to park – good luck!) before swanning off to the clubs.
